I live near the Pampulha lagoon (about 1 kilometer), so I go there walking fast as a way of warming-up. I do the 18 kilometers course on asphalt starting at "Toca da Raposa" on the clock direction. The course is almost all flat (but there are some light slopes, hard to be noticed) and I run at 12 km/hour pace. Some days I can follow other runners, but most of the time I run alone. There are many bicycle riders (be aware with them) that like to do the course in high speed at the clock direction (reason why some runners prefer to run at counterclock direction). Nevertheless they are all polite and have the same objectives of us runners. At the moment there are some improvements being made at the area, like the duplication of the course, reinforcement of the shores, and new ecological parks that improve the view. The course is pleasant with many points where you can drink coconut water and even isotonic beverages. It is hard to find well maintained toilets. The course is safe and open to disable athletes. It is a pity that I found the pleasure of running only six years ago. Now I run every day and I don't miss any race held at the lagoon area.
