There is a wonderful scenic run very close to Lausanne. It is basically a vineyard trail that follows a railway for several miles. The easier way to start the trail is to continue West (towards Vevey/Montreux) at the railway station La Conversion. The trail is signaled by little yellow plates (Tourisme Pedestre). It is hilly and at some places you need to go under the railways. On the web (in French with pics): www.tourenguide.ch/f/randonnees/suisseromande/lausanne-vevey.phtml. When I run this trail, I start in Pully and take the route Monts de Lavaux towards Belmont until it ends in Grandvaux. Turn right at the end of the road and run downhill for about 600 yards. Take the trail westwards once you reach the railway bridge and follow it all the way to La Conversion. Once at the railway station in La Conversion, continue straight for 200 yards and follow the signs to Pully.
