Mons and the surrounding areas can be difficult for enthusiastic runners... after one year I am still in search of could places to run. My favorite runs are along the canals. Quiet, but seasonal. Summer brings mosquitoes and a bad smell. A run around the Mons Ring can be good, especially early in the morning when there is no traffic. And of course, Mons is on a hill, so one can loop in and out of its many streets for a tough workout. But unless you want to do less than 4 miles, this is difficult. Bois d'Havre in East Mons, has potential, but is short. Beware of the mosquitoes and deer flies in the summer months. And the thistles on some of the trails.
