Kandy is a very nice place (center of the country) for walking. It has a nice botanical garden, river and a lake in addition to the historical places. Very nice weather all year around. Other places to walk are the lovely beaches on West and Southern coasts. Southern part of the country is quieter but warmer and has large spreads of rice fields and coconut estates which one may enjoy as well.
