I agree with all previous postings that this is a great city to tour by foot. I would add that runners should check the English-language publication "Time Out", which lists track & field and running events. I was able to talk my way into participation in a relay event at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium (1912), a true thrill. As for courses, do not forget the old city (Gamla Stad), which is small, but full of great narrow streets and plenty of hills. Also, Sodermalm, one of the more "active" areas of the city, is interesting. These are both more to the "cobblestone and mortar" side of running, but there are plenty of interesting sights and great vistas.
