Anyone wanting a run in or around Macclesfield should seek out the Middlewood Way. This is a managed path on the route of a disused railway running North from Macclesfield town centre through Bollington, Adlington, Higher Poynton and Middlewood to Marple. For most of its route it runs very close to the Macclesfield Canal so you can run out on one, and back on the other.
