Oban is a beautiful town situated on the west coast of Scotland. This town is the gateweay to the Isles of Mull, Iona Barra, Colonsay, etc., and the picturesque bay is sheltered from the Atlantic by the island of Kerrera. Starting in the centre of town the route will take you along the seafront (coast) in a northerly direction to Ganavan. You will see the War Memorial at the end of the Esplanade and then hugging the coast pass below Dunollie Castle and after 2 miles reach Ganavan Sands. Follow the same route back to town and continue in the southerly direction, past the car ferry terminal, and a route which is around 4 miles to Gallanach Point. This route is beautiful. Think two oceans and tranquil, peaceful scenery with just the occasional car and sheep for company!
