Laken - The Heysel Area. At the Atomium landmark and the Heysel Area, the place of the 1958 World Expo, you will find a nice park stretching out between the expo halls and the Laken Royal Palace. It has soft roads, asphalt as well as grass and it is large enough to map out your own loops of up to around 5 kilometers. Most of the park runs over gentle and somewhat less gentle hills. This was also the venue for the 2004 World Cross Country Championships, which ran over a 2 kilometers loop. Feel like Kenenisa Bekele as you surge up and down the grassy slopes!
