During training for the Berlin Marathon, I spent a weekend in Munich. I needed a place to run 12-14 miles, and the Sheraton suggested Westpark, which was just a couple of blocks away. It is a long, narrow park in three sections (with bridges between); it is not as big as the English gardens, but was a lovely (and often shaded) run. Three laps of the park was about 13 miles. Because of the number of trails in the park, I was able to vary my route a bit, which was nice. Pros: toilets throughout the park. Cons: no water fountains, but water was available for purchase a beer stands within the park. Yahoo describes the park this way: "Commissioned for the International Garden Show in 1983, the Westpark is an outdoor paradise. The area (comprising 720,000 square metres) is divided into different sections, the most unusual of which is the East Asian Garden. There is a large lake with an amphitheatre, several playgrounds and plenty of space to relax and feel at ease" (http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2780382-westpark_munich-i).
