I have been in Berlin for about ten days. Everyday what you have wrote about Tiergarten is true, it is a lovely place for easy running. On Saturdays at 2 pm a group called RBB gathers near the SiegeSëule to run over there. Since my hotel was in Prenzlauer Berg (1 kilometer away from Alexander Platz, to the East) I would suggest Volkspark as another chance, with a 800 meters track surrounding a lovely park with beach volley included.
