From the Pineapple Dam (Shing Mun reservoir, start of the Chung Hing Cup) to the Tai Lam tunnel along the water catchment is 15 kilometers. Round trip is then 30 kilometers. There is one steep hill, about 400 meters at Route Twisk - downhill going out, uphill coming back. The best way to do this is to change at Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground (Tai Wo Hau MTR) and run up to the dam along the Shing Mun access road. Coming back, watch for the 1 mile mark painted on the catchment. About 100 meters after, descend the stairs, and they will bring you back to the sports ground for a shower. After 30 kilometers, you will then want to visit the Congee restaurant in the basement of Shek Wai Kok estate just below the sports ground.
