Rokko Island in Kobe looks very industrial and runner-unpleasant. Hidden between all the concrete and steel is the Green Band though, a loop several kilometers long. The trail runs over both soft and hard sufaces, and as the name suggests, it is nicely shielded off by bushes or plants in many areas. The loop also takes you alongside a playground and to the waterline, where young couples meet and you can see the planes take off and land in the distance at Kansai Airport. As it is somewhat tucked away, the Green Band is not always visible or easy to find. If you are in a hotel, chances are staff can give you a little map with directions. If not, local people will certainly know this place (if nothing else to walk their dog).
