Normafa-János hill circle: this is a 9,5 kilometers long circle in the scenic Buda hills, with two significant advantages: 90% of the track is running in the woods, on asphalted roads without any car traffic and occasionally with nice panorama; it includes a long stairway down that helps avoiding much of the knee-killing down-hill pounding. Start your run at the Normafa parking lot (crossing of the Eötvös-, the Jánoshegyi- and the Konkoly Thege út; at the end-station of the bus n. 21) downhills on the Eötvös út. After 300 meters turn left on the Normafa út, and at 750 meters from the start turn left again and trot down on the Alkony út, which is actually a stairway. At the bottom turn left to the Mátyás király út and soon you arrive into the woods. At 2,15 kilometers turn left to the Tündérhegyi út, and at 4,2 kilometers turn left again and start climbing up on the Jánoshegyi út. At 7,7 kilometers you arrive to the upper end-station of the Libegõ cable-car. Here you may decide to make a steep, 350 meters-long side-track up to the highest point of Budapest to enjoy the view offered by the Erzsébet look-out tower. Continue your run on the Jánoshegyi út and at 9,5 kilometers you arrive back to the Normafa parking lot. If you feel that you deserve a few fresh-baked strudels, then check out for the booths with the "Rétes" sign, on both sides of the Eötvös út, about a 100 meters down from the parking lot, somewhat hidden in the woods. The total ascent during the circle is 155 meters (plus 40 meters for the hill top).
