All cities in Western Sahara are very far away from each other so running from one to another will be off limits to the majority of people, although I met some people heading to Senegal running. I found them in Dakhla, approximately 480 kilometers from the Mauritanian border which is very dangerous area for people to go alone. A GPS system in this area will be needed to go from the police checkpoint to the first city (Nouadhibou, distant 68 kilometers). So what I suggest is that people sleep in the Moroccan side (with tent) and cross the desert: this is approximately 7 kilometers from the first Mauritanian checkpoint. After about seventy kilometers, continuing by car would be better, because of the large amount of smugglers and robbers one can find. Keep in mind that the whole area between police checkpoints and the first city of Nouadhibou is full of land mines. Thousands of them... Dakhla city, the last big city in Western Sahara, has amazing avenues and nice streets suitable to run and to enjoy a Moroccan-style city. The city itself is very well organized and clean. The coast is also very nice to enjoy. All around the bay of Dakhla you have a coastline which has awesome views, very hard to forget.
