I call this hilly course the "Eberbach 3-Mountain Marathon". It is modeled on the "Swabian Alb Marathon" held in Germany over the "three emperor mountains" with 1100 meters ascent and 1100 meters descent over a course 50 kilometers long. Since there are quite some mountains in Eberbach and the Katzenbuckel as highest mountain of the Odenwald is located just behind the city border, the idea for this course grew. On the Neckarwimmersbach side of town the Hebert (518 meters) was a must. The Katzenbuckel (623 meters) had to be selected, too. The search for a third mountain above 500 meters resulted in the Hohe Warte (551 meters). Start and finish is the market place (132 meters) of Eberbach, and the course crosses two times the river Neckar (121 meters) and the river Itter. This results in 1592 meters ascent and 1592 meters descent on a course 43 kilometers long. Have a lot of fun! You may find details of the run (this is not a race!) like course, profile, photos, on www.stamm-wilbrandt.de/E3BM/en/ (German description on www.stamm-wilbrandt.de/E3BM/).
