Byron Bay is Australia's most eastern point on the mainland. A classic run starts from the Byron surf life saving club on Main Beach, and follow either the beach or the bike path East towards Clarkes Beach. If you are on the sand, keep going till the end at "the Pass", a popular surf break. From there go up the ramp and follow the scenic walking path all the way to the Lighthouse atop the headland. If you started out on the bike path, follow it all the way till its end, and then continue straight ahead on the road to the Lighthouse, coming from the South. Either way, return via the opposite route so you complete a semi-loop course. There is also a rough trail through rain forest which starts opposite the Captain Cook car park, about half way up via the road way. The total loop is about 4 miles / 6 kilometers.
