If you are staying in the King David Hotel or the David Citadel Hotel and looking for an early morning run, your first temptation will be to take the three mile route around the old city walls. It is beautiful as the first rays of the sun light up the Golden Gate and St. Stephen's Gate, and you can pause to catch your breath as the colorful shopkeepers of Damascus Gate set up their wares for the day. But be warned that what goes down goes up, and you will have some serious hill climbing no matter which direction you go.
