Bruges is a lovely town that time forgot. Once Belgium's richest town, the Waterway from the North sea silted over in the 15th century causing the trade business to die. The many canals and bridges make Bruges a tourist friendly destination but the crowds make it not so runner-friendly. The best running is along Canal Ghent-Brugge-Ostender that encircles the town. Leaving town on Mariakatelijnestratt make a left at the canal, run through the park and continue past three windmills to Dampoort. Turn around and run back past Mariakatelijestratt. Enter Minnewater park (lake of love) and finish at the Begijnhof, a peaceful oasis next to the lake. This is a nice 12k run.
