Another option is to run in Baiyun Mountain park. The park is quite close (5 minutes by taxi) from the main business area. Starting from the main gate, you can run to the top and go forward to the other side of the mountain, until the University Gate and back. The total distance is approximately 16 kilometers. The road is closed to vehicles, and is packed with walkers on the weekend, but normally they do not go too far from the entry gate, so you just need some patience in the first kilometer. The trees give some good shade especially in the early morning. Important note: the course is steep in some sections and is really demanding, so it is more for a serious training rather than a casual stroll to fight jetlag.
