An absolutely awesome place to run is on a mountain top called Uetliberg. It is located just west of downtown Zurich. You can either run up the side of the mountain to get to the top (approximately 3 miles, fairly steep, good hike / hard run) or you can take the number 10 train out of the train station to the top. The trail runs at least 12 miles along a mountain ridge line. It has beautiful views of the city, Zurich Sea and the Swiss Alps. There is also a scale model of the planets called Planetweg (Planet Way). The sun is just past the Uetliberg Rail Station and runs approximately 6 miles to the outer orbit of Pluto. You can also grab a cable car around the mid-orbit of Pluto down off the mountain. There is a train station near the base that will take you back to the main railroad station. Make sure that you buy your tickets before you get to the top station because there is no one there. A great loop is to climb the mountain, take the Planetweg trail to the cable car, then take the train back into Zurich.
