The Great Park is a really fantastic place to run. It is pretty much traffic-free and amazingly beautiful. There are loads of route options, good maps of the park are available from Methvens bookshop on the High Street or Swim Bike Run just beneath the King Edward Court Shopping Centre. If it is hot and you want to take in the river, then run down the High Street keeping the Castle on your right. Turn right at the bottom of the hill towards Datchet. Run along past the playing fields. At the bridge over the river take the right hand footpath along the river bank. Follow footpath round until you return to the road. Cross over and follow footpath into Datchet golf course. Run along with river on your left. Cross over bridge at golf course boundary and follow path straight over the track, over stile into a paddock, emerging by the boathouses. Follow path on which emerges at the side of the road. Follow path left into Eton College's playing fields. Bear right at fork in path, past the cricket pitches. Cross over the road and through the gate on to the rugby pitches. Here you will find a trim trail if you fancy making your run a bit harder! Continue straight until you reach the viaduct. Follow path and viaduct until you reach the river again. Turn left along river bank to return to Eton Bridge and the Castle, or right for a slightly longer loop. If you go right, you will need to cross at the road bridge and then return along the opposite riverbank. This is approximately 5 miles.
