Wollaton Park. This is west of the city centre near the main university. There are a number of paths which you can explore at your leisure and many different combinations of loops can be made. Going south of the city centre, head towards Trent Bridge and you will cross over the river Trent. This in summer in particular is a very pleasant run and close to the city centre. To make this run longer head further south still towards West Bridgford. Here you will find Holme Pierrepoint, a series of lakes which offer a welcome break from the traffic of Nottingham. You can vary the length of your route depending on how many of the lakes you want to loop around. This can be quite bleak and windy in winter but in summer is a lovely pleasant run especially early in the morning or late at night. Finally heading east of the city centre, if you fancy some hill work then try Carlton and the infamous Carlton hills. Known in Nottingham as "the three peaks", these are some of the hardest hills I have ran up... have a go!!!
