Leave the train station on the North exit. Go right. Cross the river, keep going straight for about 1 kilometer. Where the road bends to the right and the telephone tower is on your left hand, go left. After 50 meters, go right. You leave Haarlem. Pass a windmill, a bridge. The road bends left a bit. At a T-junction, go left. Stay on the left side road. Take the first left (a bike path). Follow the path when it crosses the road. Take the next bike path left, so you will run behind a farm. Continue to follow this bike path. At the end, you will need to take a small upward stroke of about 10 meters to get onto a dike. On top of the dike, go left. You enter the village of Spaarndam. Go over the bridge and stay on the dike as you run through the village. You pass the famous Hansje Brinker statue. When there is a small church next to the dike, go left, running down from the dike. Follow this road till you hit the water, about 300 meters. Go right. Continue to stay by the side of the water, going left after about 300 meters. Then stay with the water, until you enter Haarlem again at traffic lights after about 1.5 kilometer. Go left and stay with the water. Follow the water, pass a bridge. Before you get to the bridge where you started your run, there is a park on your right hand. Go right and follow the trail in the park along the water. At the bridge, go left. You are back to the train station where you started. Your run was a good 10 kilometers.
