A number of the courses described in the Copenhagen section can be joined up while still remaining almost traffic-free. While training for the Copenhagen marathon, I have developed runs up to 30 kilometers long with little double-lapping and only crossing one or two major roads. For example: start with a circuit of the lakes, described elsewhere. Note there are underpasses along the path along the western edge of them. From Sortedams Lake (the northern-most one) you can divert for a 5 kilometers circuit around Faelledparken. Back at the lakes, head north east through the smaller streets to Langeliniebro - a bridge over the railway and road to the Citadel (Kastellet) described elsewhere. You can do circuits of the ramparts as well as outside the moat, then along Langelinie quay to the north or along to Nyhavn to the south. On the return trip, there is a small park opposite Osterport Station which is another 2 kilometers circuit. You can find all these places on any map of central Copenhagen or online at www.krak.dk.
