I am in the Haidian district in the Northwest part of the city. So far, the best routes I have found around here extend from the Summer Palace. It is possible to run along the canal that runs parallel to Kunminghulu / Landianchang Beilu leading to the Summer Palace for quite a distance. This route is pretty, quiet and, I like to think, somewhat easier on the lungs. If you are in for a long run, I reccomend circumnavigating the Summer Palace via Kunminghu Lu - Yiheyuan Lu - Yuquanshan Lu - Beiwucun Lu leading back to the 4th ring road.
