Hamilton is green and almost completely flat. There are many tracks alongside the Waikato River, the longest river in New Zealand, which flows through the city. They are all good for running, though you may have to dodge walkers from time to time. My favourite run is from my home in the north of the city, in Flagstaff, for 7 kilometers straight down River Road, to Te Aroha Street, returning along Peachgrove and Hukanui roads, and finally along Wairerere Drive (16 kilometers).
