The last time I was in Nürnberg was in summer 2003 after then "Trans Europe Foot Race". It was unbelievably hot and taking a run along the river was the best thing a runner could do, along the many local runners you see daily. You can start at any place in town. Just ask how to get to the Pegnitz and every body will know where to go. Start along the river then go east and in no time will you think you are in the countryside. Open spaces in a huge park-like setting leading you along the river with a few houses on both sides but fare enough away to give you a country-like feeling. There is a bike way on both sides and eventually you actually will be running through a forest where you can get some cool running under the shadow of trees. If you go far enough to Erlenstegen, the farthest part of town the street car goes, you take it back to the city center saving some strength for another filling German meal.
