In Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, the best spot to run is along the sea / Gulf of Finland. From downtown, the seaside is very easy to find, just follow other runners, and chances are they are headed toward Pirita. Along the gulf is a massive continuous parkland with a multitude of monuments and shrines that honours various Soviet and other heroes. The choice of running surface ranges from cement pavement, to grassy paths and the breeze from the sea is always present. In Pirita you will find the marina complex that was used for the 1980 boycotted Russian Olympics, and you will know that you are getting close by the position of the tall communications tower that also is a result of those 1980 Olympics. The tower bears some resemblence to the CN Tower that we have in Toronto, Canada. The return trip from downtown to the marina is about 8 miles. Enjoy running in Tallin!
