Lodhi Gardens, in New Delhi, is a great running environment. A 2.2 km jogging track is marked out, with a surface varying between grass, compressed dry mud (in woodland) and paved paths. The park is a treasure-trove of ancient Mughal buildings and tombs, and the trees echo to the calls of parrots in the early morning. Hundreds of Delhi residents don tracksuits and trainers for an early morning walk, and so the park is very popular. It can be reached easily from the main business hotels, The Taj Mahal & The Oberoi. The approach run along wooded avenues and a couple of circuits add up to a good 7-8 km run.
