Tzfat, which is in the North of Israel, provides a runner with exceptionally scenic and challenging runs. Since Tzfat is located on a mountain, which ever direction you run, will probably start out downhill with a climb back up at the end. I like to avoid traffic and run on the dirt road that is right off Ha Ari Street at the marble factory. This road takes you through the woods and connects with the street leading to Meron. For a shorter run, you can run to the street and back up the mountain, or continue to work your way to the bottom of the ancient cemetery, and then run back up the mountain. For a longer run, you can run to the grave of the holy Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron and back to Tzfat. (There is a good dirt margin along the side of the road which allows you to avoid having to run on the street itself).
