I ran from the hotels located in Shinagawa. Coming out of the train station facing the Pacific Hotel one can run up the street past the hotel. You then enter a residential neighborhood. If you keep proceeding in this direction (with a few bends and different roads) you can get to a canal. The running by this canal is excellent. Hardly any cars and some beautiful parks and manicured backyards. The running gets much better early in the morning. The later one waits, the worse the people and car traffic gets. I had a much better running experience in Tokyo than I originally anticipated.
